A-League: Adelaide United extend winning run with victory over Jets

In-form Adelaide United won for the fourth time in a row as a single goal was enough to see off Newcastle Jets at Coopers Stadium on Sunday.

The goal, scored by Marcelo Carrusca as half-time loomed, took their unbeaten run to nine -- but they had to withstand some pressure from the Jets to hold their lead.

Carrusca struck when Bruce Djite got the better of defender Daniel Mullen before firing in a shot which ricocheted for the attacking midfielder to convert from close range.

Jets could have been in front by then only for Enver Alivodic, played through by Milos Trifunovic, to guide his effort wide.
