Joy of six for Leyton Orient as they ease past Staines
A first-half brace apiece from Ollie Palmer and Dean Cox plus two late goals from John Marquis and Sean Clohessy gave Leyton Orient an easy passage into the second round of the FA cup with a 6-1 win against Staines at Brisbane Road.Staines' consolation came from former O's central defender Darren Purse. The visitors found themselves three down within the first 13 minutes as the League team's class shone through. It took just eight minutes for the home side to go in front when full-back Frazer Shaw broke down the left and picked out Palmer with a cross to nod home from close range.Orient then scored twice in as many minutes. Shaw again played an influential role in the first when he passed the ball into the path of Cox who side-footed home from 18 yards. Then Palmer latched onto the ball to slide it into an empty net after Swans keeper weakly parried a shot from Blair Turgott.Staines did pull a goal back when Purse scored with a lob after Alex Cisak had flapped at a cross but Cox re-established Orient's three-goal cushion on 33 minutes with a wonderful 25 yard free-kick that curled into the top left corner of the net.Credit to Staines who forced their hosts into a workmanlike performance after the interval. However they conceded again two minutes from the end of normal time when substitute Marquis netted before Clohessy struck in added time as the visitors tired.
