Sydney FC continue winning run with big victory over Perth Glory
A five-star performance from Milos Ninkovic inspired Sydney FC to a comprehensive 4-1 win over Perth to continue their perfect start to the A-League season.
Ninkovic scored one and set up another for Bobo in the first half, before an own goal to Rhyan Grant allowed Glory to stage a fightback on Sunday.
However, Ninkovic pegged one back with a second-half volley, and then skipper Alex Brosque netted his fourth goal of the season to ensure a sixth-straight win to open their season.
They are now one short of Melbourne Victory's record of seven successive wins in their 2006-07 title.
Perth had all the early running in front of the 14,167 crowd at Allianz Stadium and should have gone ahead from any of the three chances Andy Keogh in the opening 11 minutes.
The Irishman's best chance came in the fourth minute when he had a one-on-one chance with keeper Danny Vukovic, but he sent his shot wide of the post.
He also had good looks at a Nebojsa Marinkovic's cross in the eighth and again fired aimlessly three minutes later, wasting a strong start that had the hosts on their heels.
But momentum turned in the 14th minute when Ninkovic took advantage of a defensive error by Glory right-back Dino Djulbic.
The defender blundered on the ball deep in his own territory and looked for goalkeeper Liam Reddy to save him when Ninkovic poked through, dribbled along the by-line and goaled.
The Sky Blues wore three yellow cards as they muscled up to Perth, ramping up their defensive pressure on-field and then on the scoreboard with Ninkovic's assist for Bobo in the 38th minute.
A Rhyan Grant deflection off a Joseph Mills cross reduced the deficit to a goal and brought Perth back into the contest, only for Ninkovic's 80th-minute volley to restore the lead.
Perth's frustrating afternoon was summed up when skipper Rostyn Griffiths angrily tossed his armband and refused to shake coach Kenny Lowe's hand when substituted late in the game.
Brosque then completed the rout in the 88th minute, giving Sydney FC a record 17 goals over the opening six rounds of the competition.
