Thailand breezed through to the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup final on Thursday night after beating Myanmar 4-0 at the Rajamangala Stadium to claim a 6-0 aggregate victory in the semifinals.

Sarawut Masuk got the War Elephants on their way in Bangkok with a headed goal in the first half before second-half efforts from Theerathon Bunmathan, Siroch Chatthong and Chanathip Songkrasin completed an emphatic display.

Thailand will be hot favourites to win their record fifth AFF title when they face underdogs Indonesia in the two-legged final on Dec. 14 (away) and Dec. 17 (home).

Entering Thursday's game with a 2-0 lead from Sunday's first leg, the Thais knew their place in the final was almost secure, barring an unthinkable collapse.

Nonetheless, they looked a side not willing to rest on their laurels from the opening whistle, although Myanmar also displayed plenty of endeavour in their bid to get back into the contest.

Still, the Thais always looked a class above their opponents, and they duly took the lead three minutes after the half-hour mark.

Bursting forward on the overlap, Theerathon Bunmathan floated a dangerous cross into the box. It was met by a bullet header from Sarawut Masuk, piercing the back of the net.

The odds were now firmly against Myanmar, but they came excruciatingly close to pulling one back five minutes after half-time. Than Paing unleashed a powerful effort which came crashing back off the bar.

However, any hopes the visitors had of pulling off a remarkable comeback were effectively ended when their opponents were awarded a penalty in the 66th minute. Wing-back Theerathon made no mistake in converting after sending Kyaw Zin Phyo the wrong way.

Thailand showed no signs of taking their foot off the pedal and went further head in the 76th minute. Substitute Siroch advanced into the box, and skipped outside Zaw Min Tun before blasting a powerful effort from a tight angle into the roof of the net.

Seven minutes from time, the rout was complete when Sarawut found space down the left. He cut a neat pass back into the path of Chanathip, who made no mistake in finishing into the bottom corner for his side's fourth of the evening.

Thailand's opponents, Indonesia, had booked their place in the final on Wednesday following
