Peterborough see off Notts County to set up tie with Chelsea

Peterborough United will travel to Premier League leaders Chelsea in the third round of the FA Cup after beating Notts County 2-0 in their replay at the ABAX Stadium.

Like the first match between these sides, Posh raced into an early 2-0 lead -- this time through Gwion Edwards and Paul Taylor - but this time they held on to their advantage.

The home side were thankful to goalkeeper Luke McGee for saving Jon Stead's first-half penalty after he was adjudged to have fouled the striker.

League One Peterborough were two up after eight minutes as an unmarked Edwards headed in right-back Michael Smith's cross for his ninth goal of the season before Taylor finished emphatically from 25 yards.

The visitors, who have lost their last six League Two matches, responded well and were awarded a penalty on 36 minutes when McGee dived in on Stead.

But the goalkeeper made his third penalty save of the season diving to his right, before Michael Bostwick blocked Stead's follow-up.

Magpies forward Jonathan Forte came closest to scoring in the second-half, but his lob from 18 yards bounced back off the bar.
