Adam Taggart nets winner for Perth Glory against Central Coast

Perth Glory scored twice in the second half, coming from behind to beat the Central Coast Mariners 2-1 for their first A-League win of the season at nib Stadium.

Both teams were chasing their first win and the Mariners controlled the opening 20 minutes of each half. They only had one goal to show for it which came in the 15th minute courtesy of Wout Brama.

Glory took a while to settle in both halves but began to build momentum in the 70th minute with a goal to captain Andy Keogh.

That was set up by Adam Taggart who then scored the winner after an otherwise horror game in front of goal. He missed five good chances before final scoring in the 85th minute to give his side a hard-fought win.

Central Coast should have scored after 45 seconds. Kwabena Appiah beat the offside trap and placed the ball perfectly for Asdrubal to finish -- but the Spaniard fell over.

The visitors were rewarded when Connor Pain sent a comfortable pass to a wide open Brama in the box, the Dutchman curling it into the top of the goal.

Glory did settle before half-time with Taggart fluffing a sitter in the 34th minute when he tangled his feet in front of a wide open goal.

The Mariners came out well in the second half again but Perth worked their way into the match. It was a Taggart cross in the 70th minute that Keogh converted with a good header that levelled the scores.

He scored himself after a good ball by the returning Shane Lowry, scoring from the edge of the box when one-on-one with 'keeper Thomas Glover.

Perth are back on the road to play Sydney FC on Friday while Central Coast have three of the next four at home starting on Sunday against Melbourne Victory.

Glory coach Kenny Lowe came away happy with his team's first win of the season.

"It was a good performance. I thought we started a little bit slow but as the game wore on we looked dangerous and created chances," Lowe said. "On another day, maybe we could have had a couple more and maybe got one earlier than we did."

Mariners coach Paul Okon liked a lot of what his team did but knows they can't afford to cough up such soft goals.

"We can't think that if we continue to give goals away like that we are going to win football games," Okon said. "It's disappointing because I thought our effort was outstanding especially in the first 20 minutes.

"When you have those opportunities you have to punish teams and we didn't do that. Then in the end those moments where we make crazy decisions that cost us goals is very disappointing."
