Man United stumble to bore draw at Wolves

Manchester United failed to muster a single shot on target as they played out a dull goalless draw away at Wolves in the third round of the FA Cup.

United, who were beaten by Wolves in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup last season, made seven changes from the team that lost 2-0 at Arsenal on Wednesday with only Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Nemanja Matic keeping their places.

Ashley Young, Tahith Chong, Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood were among the players to come in.

After Sergio Romero denied Matt Doherty with a superb early save and Williams was denied a penalty following a VAR review when it appeared he was fouled by Leander Dendocker, the game sparked into life after the break.

Juan Mata's free kick going narrowly wide with Wolves goalkeeper John Ruddy looking beaten and substitute Marcus Rashford's deflected shot also struck the crossbar, but overall it was a below-par performance from the visitors.

Doherty saw a goal ruled out for handball on 76 minutes and Raul Jimenez hit the woodwork as Wolves threatened to snatch the win.

The sides will now contest a replay at Old Trafford.

"I'm happy to be in the replay than going out -- it's a tough place to come," Solskjaer told the BBC. "They had chances, Sergio Romero made some great saves and we got off the hook with the [Doherty] header."

Maguire was seen limping after a challenge on Wolves winger Adama Traore, with Phil Jones told to warm up for a potential substitution that ultimately wasn't needed.

Speaking after the match, Solskjaer told reporters that he was unsure if the defender would be fit enough to face Manchester City in the first leg of the clubs' Carabao Cup semifinal tie on Tuesday.

"I don't know," Solakjaer said. "We were close to taking him off at half-time, but he battled through. Let's see how he recovers. We hope so."
