Manchester City ousted Bournemouth in the third round of the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 win at the Etihad on Thursday. Debutant Liam Delap scored early for City before Sam Surridge struck back four minutes later. Phil Foden collected the winner a quarter-hour from time to seal the victory. The result sets up a fourth-round clash with Burnley, who beat Millwall 2-0 on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola handed a number of players their City debuts on the day, including U.S. goalkeeper Zack Steffen, and Delap began his bow with a bang, running onto a sumptuous through ball from Foden and sweetly stroking his left-footed shot out of the reach of a helpless Mark Travers in goal. Bournemouth didn't take long to respond and grabbed a well-deserved goal in the 22nd minute when Surridge swiveled and fired into the far post after a wonderful, mazy run by David Brooks helped set up the chance. But Foden punched City's ticket in the 75th minute, when slotted home a rebound after Riyad Mahrez hit the post from just outside the box.
