Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas finish in a 1-1 draw

Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas each get goals in the first half, but can't find the net in the second half as the match finishes 1-1.

Bernard Kamungo scored the tying goal late in the first half to help FC Dallas earn a 1-1 tie with the host Seattle Sounders on Saturday night.

Seattle's tally came on an own goal by FC Dallas' Sam Junqua.

The draw stretched FC Dallas' winless streak in Seattle to 17 matches. Dallas is 0-13-4 since posting a 1-0 victory on May 25, 2011.

The Sounders (10-8-6, 36 points) owned a dominating 17-3 edge in shots but only placed two on target. Dallas also put two on net.

Seattle is just 3-4-4 over its past 11 matches, while FC Dallas (8-9-6, 30 points) is 2-6-3 over the same time span.

FC Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes had two saves, while Seattle counterpart Stefan Frei made one.

FC Dallas played without star Jesus Ferreira, who completed play for the United States in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Wednesday. Ferreira scored seven goals to match the U.S. record for a single Gold Cup set by former Sounders star Clint Dempsey in 2015.

Seattle's Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan also returned from the Gold Cup. Morris entered as a substitute in the 71st minute while Roldan started and played the entire match.

Morris had a chance to put Seattle ahead in the 78th minute but his close-range header didn't have fierce power behind it and was stopped by Paes.

In the 90th minute, a right-footed rocket by 17-year-old Obed Vargas of Seattle sailed just over the right corner of the net.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute on the own goal by Junqua.

Leo Chu had the ball on the left as Roldan streaked toward the goal. As Chu's pass neared the center of the box, Junqua got his right foot on the ball and knocked it into his own net.

Dallas tied the score in the 42nd minute as Sebastian Lletget delivered a stellar cross that Kamungo headed toward the net. The ball tipped Frei's left hand before going into the net for Kamungo's third goal of the season.
