Washington Spirit leads Angel City FC 4-2 at the break following a breathless first half.


Trinity Rodman scored two goals as the Washington Spirit secured a 4-2 victory over Angel City FC on Saturday at Audi Field. All six goals came in the first half of the high-scoring affair.

Rodman opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a left-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Ouleymata Sarr. She later equalized for her team after an own goal by Annaïg Butel and another goal from Sydney Leroux put Angel City ahead temporarily.

Casey Krueger and Sarr scored for Washington shortly after Rodman's second, as the Spirit tallied three goals in six minutes. Krueger scored off a corner kick assisted by Tara McKeown, while Sarr found the net following a fast break set up by Croix Bethune.
