Mal Swanson's stunning strike puts Chicago ahead

Check out this fantastic goal from Chicago Red Stars' Mallory Swanson to make it 1-0 vs. Houston Dash.

Mallory Swanson's stunning goal in first-half stoppage time was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for the Chicago Red Stars over the Houston Dash at SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday.

Swanson broke the deadlock just before halftime with a left-footed shot from outside the box that found the top-left corner, leaving Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell with no chance. It was a moment of brilliance in an otherwise tightly contested match.

The Dash had their opportunities, particularly early. In the 13th minute, Houston's Avery Patterson came close with a header that narrowly missed the top-right corner following a cross from Michelle Alozie. Despite several attempts, including shots by Natalie Jacobs and Diana Ordóñez, the Dash were unable to find an equalizer.

Houston continued to press but couldn't break through Chicago's defense led by Sam Staab and Hannah Anderson.

Despite some late pressure from Houston -- including efforts by Ramona Bachmann and substitute Jyllissa Harris -- Chicago held firm to claim all three points.
