Gotham FC secure 2-0 victory over Portland Thorns

Ella Stevens and Yazmeen Ryan directed NJ/NY Gotham FC to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Portland Thorns FC at Red Bull Arena on Saturday.

Stevens opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a header from the center of the box, assisted by Bruninha's cross. Ryan doubled Gotham's lead in the second half with a right-footed shot from outside the box in the 70th minute, set up by Rose Lavelle.

Gotham goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger made several key saves to maintain a clean sheet.

The win improved Gotham's record to 10-4-3 (34 points), while the Thorns fell to 8-3-6 (27 points).

Despite efforts from Olivia Moultrie and Jessie Fleming, who both had shots saved or blocked, Portland couldn't break through Gotham's defense.
