Each team will play eight games in the league phase, up from six in the group stage, with the draw scheduled to take place on Thursday and fixtures for all 36 teams to be made public on Saturday.
After facing eight different teams, half at home and half away, the top eight sides will qualify automatically for the last 16, with the sides ranked ninth to 24th going into a playoff.
