Lucy Bronze and Sam Kerr were on target as Chelsea came from behind to qualify for the Champions League quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory at Wolfsburg.

Sonia Bompastor's side started and finished the night in third place after becoming the first English club to win at AOK Stadion.

Bronze made crucial contributions in defence and attack while Kerr delivered the 65th-minute winner, with Chelsea riding their luck at times.

They fell behind in the 16th minute following a blunder from Chelsea goalkeeper Livia Peng whose goal-kick went straight to the opposition. The ball was worked to Alexandra Popp and she finished on the half-volley.

Kerr went close, while at the other end Bronze was keeping her side in contention with a series of important tackles, including one perfectly-timed challenge on Kessya Bussy.

And on the stroke of half-time the influential Bronze showed her finishing prowess when she turned home a corner.

Chelsea almost added a second early in the second half, only for Alyssa Thompson's turn and shot to hit the left post.

Goalkeeper Stina Johannes produced a fine save to keep out Erin Cuthbert as the visitors took control of the match.

The winner eventually arrived when Kerr directed a looping header from Johanna Rytting Kaneryd's cross into the net.
