        Harry Kane scores late winner as Bayern confirm second place finish

        Harry Kane came off the bench to score the winner as Bayern Munich beat PSV Eindhoven 2-1 to seal second place in the Champions League table and an automatic spot in the last 16. Kane's clinical finish was his 35th goal of the season in all competitions and spoiled Ismael Saibari's 25th birthday celebrations, after the Morocco midfielder's equaliser had briefly lifted PSV into the play-off places before their elimination. Jamal Musiala marked his first start of the season after recovering from a broken leg with the opening goal for Bayern early in the second half at Phillips Stadion. PSV's misery was complete in the closing stages when defender Mauro Júnior was sent off for his second yellow card. Bayern slipped to a shock 2-1 home defeat to Augsburg on Saturday -- their first Bundesliga loss in 27 matches -- and they struggled to get on top. The hosts, who began the day 22nd in the table, were denied a half-time lead by Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig's superb save from Ivan Perisic's 44th-minute header. Bayern had gone close to an early breakthrough when Tom Bischof's free-kick hit the crossbar, while Nicolas Jackson and Aleksandar Pavlovic both saw shots saved by PSV goalkeeper Matej Kovar. PSV, surprise 4-1 winners at Liverpool in November, went toe-to-toe with Bayern before the break and Urbig made other crucial saves to deny Sergiño Dest, Joey Veerman and Guus Til, while Perisic steered Mauro Junior's cross agonisingly wide. But the Dutch side fell behind 13 minutes into the second period when Musiala, who suffered the break at the Club World Cup in July, combined brilliantly with teenage teammate Lennart Karl before slamming his finish high into the roof of the net. Both players were withdrawn shortly afterwards as Bayern sent on Kane, Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies as the German champions looked to press home their advantage. Musiala's strike appeared to take the wind out of PSV's sails, but with 12 minutes left Saibari produced a moment of magic for the equaliser. After playing a one-two with Til, Saibari arrowed a stunning shot into the top corner from the edge of the box to briefly lift his side back into the play-off places. But their hopes were short-lived as Kane ran on to Luis Diaz' pass just inside the area and thumped a brilliant first-time finish beyond Kovar for his eighth Champions League goal of the season. The England captain almost grabbed a second when his effort was well held by Kovar, before Júnior was shown a second yellow card for a crude challenge on the winning goalscorer.
