Martin 15-15 from the line, Memphis drops Tulane 96-89
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Jeremiah Martin made all 15 of his free throws and scored a career-high 31 points and Memphis turned back Tulane 96-89 on Tuesday night.
Mike Parks Jr. added 16 points and Kyvon Davenport had 15 for the Tigers (11-6, 2-2 American Athletic Conference), who took control in the first half and then made 25 of 32 free throws in the second half.
Martin had 11 points and Parks 10 in the first half when Memphis shot 58 percent and took a 50-31 lead, the most points the Tigers scored in a half this season.
They needed them all as the Green Wave (11-5, 2-2) stormed back in the second half, cutting a 24-point second half deficit to single figures with 56 seconds left after Jordan Cornish knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers. Tulane made five straight 3s, four from Cornish in the last 75 seconds, but the Tigers were too sharp from the line.
Melvin Frazier had a career-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting and Cornish had 19 points for the Green Wave, who shot 60 percent in the second half, making 9 of 16 3-pointers.
