Wofford's late run clinches 79-70 win over Furman
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Fletcher Magee drilled a trey to give Wofford a late lead and the Terriers held on to knock Furman from the Southern Conference unbeaten ranks 79-70 on Saturday night.
Furman held a 62-57 advantage with 7:48 remaining when Cameron Jackson slammed home a dunk to start a 14-0 run to take a 71-62 lead as Furman went scoreless for more than four minutes. Devin Sibley drilled a 3-pointer to stop the bleeding at the 3:22 mark.
Nathan Hoover answered with a trey and followed with two free throws as Furman failed to score in the final 1:50 and Wofford (12-5, 3-1) took its fourth straight victory.
Trevor Stumpe and Cameron Jackson had 20 points apiece for Wofford. Magee finished with 17 and Hoover added 13 points.
Sibley had 17 points for Furman (13-5, 4-1) which had not lost since falling to then No. 21 Tennessee 66-61 on December 20.
