Magee scores 31, Wofford downs Samford 93-89
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Fletcher Magee scored 31 points with eight 3-pointers and Wofford beat Samford 93-89 on Thursday night to win its fifth straight.
Trevor Stumpe scored 18 points with seven assists, Cameron Jackson added 12 points and Derrick Brooks had 10 with 12 rebounds for the Terriers (13-5, 4-1 Southern Conference), who made 14 of 30 3-pointers (46.7 percent) and shot 53.7 percent from the floor (36 of 67).
Demetrius Denzel-Dyson's 3 sparked a 10-0 run and Samford tied it at 58 on Justin Coleman's layup. The lead traded hands three times before Matthew Pegram's layup put Wofford up for good, 62-60, with 13:30 left and the Terriers pulled away on a 9-2 run.
Magee scored 18 points on five 3s and the Terriers shot 59 percent from the field and 57 percent from 3 to lead 49-41 at halftime.
Alex Thompson scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Justin Coleman scored 20 points with 12 boards for the Bulldogs (7-12, 3-3). Denzel-Dyson scored 15 points and Eric Adams had 13.
