Howard shoots Central Arkansas past Houston Baptist, 100-80
HOUSTON -- Jordan Howard scored 35 points on just 16 field goal attempts as Central Arkansas hit triple digits for the fifth time this season in a 100-80 Southland Conference win over Houston Baptist on Wednesday night.
The conference's all-time best 3-point shooter was 5 of 7 from distance and 12 of 16 overall as the Bears rebounded from an 89-84 loss to Southeastern Louisiana and remain tied with Lamar for sixth place in the conference standings. The Cardinals beat Northwestern State, 79-75.
Central Arkansas (13-12, 7-5) built a 12-point lead at intermission as Howard scored 24 first-half points to lead the way. The Bears shot a brisk 36 of 64 from the field (56.3 percent), including 8 of 19 from beyond the three-point arc.
Hayden Koval posted a triple double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 11 blocked shots. Thatch Unruh and Mathieu Kamba each added 13 points.
Houston Baptist (5-19, 1-10) got 20 points from Ian DuBose, 17 from Jalon Gates and 15 from David Caraher.
