Stephen F. Austin cruises to 87-68 win over Texas A&M-CC
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Shannon Bogues scored 32 points and Stephen F. Austin cruised to an 87-68 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday night.
Bogues was 9 of 11 from the field and 10 of 12 from the line for the Lumberjacks (21-5, 10-3 Southland Conference), who are on a three-game streak and tied with Sam Houston State for third in the conference standings. Kevon Harris added 16 points and seven rebounds and TJ Holyfield had 14 points and eight rebounds.
Bogues exploded midway through the first half, scoring 16 points in a 20-6 run that took the Lumberjacks from a three-point deficit to a 27-16 advantage with 7:56 to go. They led 40-29 at the break.
Holyfield scored seven points early in the second half as part of a 15-7 surge that also included two 3-pointers by Harris to extend the lead to 55-36 with 16:39 to play and the Lumberjacks cruised from there.
Kareem South scored 20 points with seven rebounds for the Islanders (8-15, 5-8) who have lost the last three.
