Idaho beats Weber State, moves into 2nd place in Big Sky
OGDEN, Utah -- Nate Sherwood had 15 points and 10 rebounds and hit all four of his free throws in the final 24 seconds to help Idaho beat Weber State 68-62 on Saturday night.
The Vandals (20-8, 12-4) moved into a tie with the Wildcats (19-9, 12-4) for second place in the Big Sky Conference standings and both teams are two games behind conference-leading Montana with two games to play. Idaho holds the tiebreaker with Weber State as Saturday night was the only meeting between the teams this season.
Idaho took the lead for good at 56-55 on the second of Sherwood's two free throws with 6:28 left. Weber State closed within 62-60 on Brekkott Chapman's 3-pointer with 53 seconds to go. But Brayon Blake scored on a baseline drive with a reverse finish to push the Vandals' lead to four and Sherwood's free throws sealed Idaho's seventh win in its last eight.
Trevon Allen had 12 points, Chad Sherwood and Victor Sanders scored 11 apiece and Blake finished with 10 for Idaho.
Ryan Richardson led four in double figures for Weber State with 17 points. Chapman scored 11 with 10 rebounds.
