Thomas, Brown combine for 48, Bucknell cruises by Navy 85-61
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Zach Thomas scored 23 points, tying a school record with his 16th 20-point game, Stephen Brown added 25 points and Bucknell cruised past Navy 85-61 Wednesday night with each team already assured of a top spot in the upcoming Patriot League playoffs.
Bucknell (21-9, 15-2) had already locked up the league title and home court for the quarterfinals for the fourth-straight season and seventh time in the last eight. Navy (19-11, 10-7) is tied for third.
As the game wound down, the Bucknell seniors checked out one-by-one to standing ovations. They are the first class in Patriot League history to win the league title outright four straight times.
Nana Foulland added 12 points for Bucknell, Bruce Moore 10 as the Bison shot 56 percent (30 of 54) with 10 3-pointers and 16 assists.
Hasan Abdullah led the Midshipmen with 19 points and Ryan Pearson added 14 -- each a season high -- and Shawn Anderson added 10. The Midshipmen remain one win away from their first 20-win season since 1999-00.
