Gardner-Webb gets 1st win, beats Warren Wilson 119-81
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Liam O'Reilly and David Efianayi had 24 points apiece as Gardner-Webb jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 119-81 win over Warren Wilson for its first victory on Saturday afternoon.
DJ Laster hit a jumper to start the game and the Bulldogs raced to a 16-0 lead. Warren Wilson closed to 30-29 following a Lukas Juozapavicius' 3-pointer with 7:19 left in the first half. O'Reilly responded with a trey and Gardner-Webb pulled to a 56-40 lead at the break. Efianayi nailed a 3 to start the second half on a 14-3 run. The Owls, which compete in the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association, never recovered.
O'Reilly nailed 8 of 10 from beyond the arc for a career high and Efianayi was 9 of 14 from the floor. Eric Jamison added a career-best 21 points as six Bulldogs (1-3) hit double figures. Laster finished with 20 points and 12 boards.
Tyquavion Dix led the Owls with 21 points.
