UT San Antonio hits 15 3s in 82-70 win over UAB
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Jhivvan Jackson scored 24 points, Deon Lyle scored 14 and UT San Antonio never trailed as it beat UAB 82-70 on Saturday night.
Jackson made back-to-back 3s and the Roadrunners were up 17-8. Chris Cokley scored four straight and Nate Darling's layup reduced the deficit to 23-18. UTSA (11-11, 4-5 Conference USA) went on a 9-0 run and the Roadrunners led 42-26 at intermission.
Cokley's dunk with 17 minutes to play brought UAB within 47-39 before Kendell Ramlal made a pair of free throws and Jackson had a 3 and the Roadrunners led by double digits the rest of the way.
Giovanni De Nicolao scored 12 points and he, Jackson and Lyle buried four 3s apiece. Byron Frohnen and Ramlal each had three steals of UTSA's 10 steals.
Cokley led the Blazers (14-8, 5-4) with 20 points, Zach Bryant scored 15 and William Lee had 13 with 10 rebounds.
