San Francisco opens with road romp over UC Davis
DAVIS, Calif. -- Charles Minlend scored 16 points and Matt McCarthy chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds as San Francisco opened its season with a 76-42 road win over UC Davis on Tuesday night.
Minlend buried 7 of his 11 shots from the floor as the Dons shot 52.5 percent (32 of 61) for the game, including 59 percent (20 of 34) in opening up a 46-26 halftime lead. Jordan Ratinho scored 14 and Frankie Ferrari pitched in with seven assists.
Garrison Goode, Matt Neufeld and Stefan Gonzalez all scored eight points to pace the Aggies. UC Davis shot just 27.5 percent (14 of 51) on its home floor, including a dismal 3-of-19 effort from 3-point range.
San Francisco had a 50-22 scoring advantage in the paint and scored 24 points off 18 UC Davis turnovers.
