Stetson pulls away early in 2nd to beat Edward Waters 72-65
DELAND, Fla. -- Marques Sumner scored 13 points, Christiaan Jones added 12 and Stetson pulled away early in the second half to beat NAIA-member Edward Waters 72-65 on Thursday night.
Ricardo Lynch and Keith Matthews added 10 points apiece for Stetson (4-11), which has won two of its last three games. Sumner and Jones made six of the Hatters' 11 3-pointers.
Jontavius Littles scored 20 points and Arcuas McGhee had 19 points and 10 rebounds with three assists and three steals to lead Edward Waters. Dennis Miles chipped in with 12 points. The trio combined for seven of the Tigers' nine shots from long range.
The game was tied at 43 with 15:35 to play before Sumner hit a 3-pointer to spark a 19-5 run and the Hatters led 62-48 with 6:44 left. Matthews scored five points and Sumner capped the surge with his second 3.
