Jackson, Glenn help Georgia Southern beat FAU 80-70
NASSAU, Bahamas -- Quan Jackson scored 16 points and Montae Glenn added 14 points and 12 rebounds to help Georgia Southern beat Florida Atlantic 80-70 on Friday night in the first round of the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase.
Georgia Southern will play Towson or Pepperdine in the semifinals Saturday.
Ike Smith scored 13 points, Tookie Brown had 12 points, six rebounds and seven assists, and Elijah McCadden scored 10 for the Eagles (3-0).
McCadden's jumper early in the second half gave Georgia Southern the lead for good and started a 7-0 spurt that made it 46-39 with 13 minutes to go. Anthony Adger's jumper capped an 8-0 run and trimmed FAU's deficit to four about eight minutes later but the Eagles scored the next 10 points and led by double figures the rest of the way.
Jailyn Ingram hit four 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 25 points for the Owls (2-1). Freshman Michael Forrest, came in with 11 points on 4-of-20 shooting this season, made 7 of 13 from the field and scored 21.
