Dennis scores 20, UT Arlington beats D-III UT Tyler 90-66
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Edric Dennis scored 20 points and David Azore added 15 to help UT Arlington beat Division-III UT Tyler 90-66 on Tuesday night for coach Chris Ogden's first career win.
Patrick Mwamba and Radshad Davis had 13 points apiece and Brian Warren scored 11 for UTA.
Tyler led by as many as five points early before Dennis hit a 3-pointer that sparked a 21-0 run, capped by Mwamba's dunk, and made it 27-11 midway through the first half. Davis made a layup and then converted a 3-point play to spark a 9-0 spurt to close the first half and a layup by Dennis to open the second pushed the lead to 28.
Chris Craig led the Patriots with 10 points.
The Mavericks had 12 steals, including four by Mwamba, and converted 24 UTT turnovers into 31 points while outscoring the Patriots 21-9 from the free-throw line.
