Magee with 19 leads Wofford past High Point 68-60
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Fletcher Magee scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds and Wofford beat High Point 68-60 on Saturday.
Magee was 7 of 13 from the field including five from distance for the Terriers (1-1). Storm Murphy added 15 points and three assists and Cameron Jackson had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Magee drained a pair of 3-pointers early in the first half to give Wofford a 15-10 lead and the Terriers led the rest of the way and had a 39-26 advantage at the break.
High Point got as close as 53-50 with 6:40 left to play but Donovan Theme-Love replied with a 3-pointer and Matthew Pegram made a dunk to stretch the lead to 58-52 and Magee sank two 3s in the final four minutes to help seal the win.
Denny Slay scored 11 points to lead the Panthers (0-2) who are playing their first season under new head coach, HPU alumnus Tubby Smith.
