Geu with 22 leads North Dakota St. past W. Illinois 78-76
MACOMB, Ill. -- Deng Geu scored 22 points off the bench and North Dakota State edged Western Illinois 78-76 on Saturday night.
Geu was 8 of 12 from the field including three from distance for the Bison (11-12, 5-4 Summit League). Vinnie Shahid added 15 points and Tyree Eady and Cameron Hunter chipped in 10 apiece.
NDSU trailed 42-35 at the break but battled back early in the second half with the help of 3-pointers by Shahid, Jared Samuelson and Tyson Ward and a dunk by Geu to take a 51-48 lead with 14:10 to play. Four lead changes and three ties followed until Shahid sank a 3-pointer to put the Bison on top for good, 70-67, with 4:15 left and a 3 by Hunter in the stretch helped secure the win.
C.J. Duff and Kobe Webster scored 21 points apiece to lead the Leathernecks (8-15, 3-7).
