Syracuse rolls past Boston College 76-56

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- — Buddy Boeheim and Cole Swider scored 18 points each, Jimmy Boeheim added a double-double and Syracuse cruised by Boston College 76-56 on Saturday.

Jimmy Boeheim scored 13 points with 10 rebounds and Joseph Girard III had four 3-pointers and 16 points for Syracuse (14-12, 8-7 Atlantic Coast Conference), which has won five of its last six games.

James Karnik had 11 rebounds and 11 points to lead the Eagles (9-16, 4-11), who have lost five in a row. DeMarr Langford scored 10 points but didn't play in the second half. Quinten Post, who missed the previous last two games because of COVID protocols, also scored 10 points. Starter T.J. Bickerstaff missed his second straight game with a calf injury.

Syracuse shot 51% and was 10 of 23 from the arc. The Eagles shot 35% and only 18% on 3-pointers (5 of 28).

Up by 15 at halftime, Syracuse boosted its lead to 22 after the Boeheims combined for the first eight points in a 12-2 run early in the second half. BC responded with a 10-0 run to get back within 12 but got no closer.

Five turnovers and 0-for-7 shooting by the Eagles led to Syracuse taking a 10-point lead midway through the first half. A 13-0 run with six straight points from Jimmy Boeheim expanded the lead to 21 before the Eagles scored the final six points of the half to cut the deficit to 36-21. Syracuse outshot BC by 20% in the half and scored 17 points off 12 turnovers, including 10 steals. The Eagles made just 1 of 14 from the arc.

Syracuse beat Boston College 73-64 in their first meeting this season on Feb. 8 and has beaten the Eagles eight straight times.

Boston College is home against Florida State and Syracuse is host to Georgia Tech, both on Monday.
