RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- — Nate Pickens' 20 points helped UC Riverside defeat CSU Fullerton 84-74 on Thursday.
Pickens also added five rebounds and four steals for the Highlanders (14-17, 9-10 Big West Conference). Kaleb Smith scored 14 points while shooting 5 for 12 (3 for 6 from 3-point range) and 1 of 3 from the free-throw line and added 10 rebounds. Barrington Hargress had 14 points and shot 6 for 13 (0 for 3 from 3-point range) and 2 of 4 from the free-throw line.
Dominic Brewton led the way for the Titans (14-17, 7-12) with 26 points and 10 rebounds. John Square Jr. added 14 points for CSU Fullerton. Donovan Oday also had 13 points and two steals.
Both teams play on Saturday. UC Riverside visits UCSB and CSU Fullerton hosts UC Irvine.
