Diggins' 18 help UMass down Rhode Island 81-79
AMHERST, Mass. -- — Rahsool Diggins scored 18 points and UMass beat Rhode Island 81-79 on Sunday.
Diggins shot 6 for 13, including 6 for 11 from beyond the arc for the Minutemen (15-8, 6-5 Atlantic 10 Conference). Keon Thompson scored 16 points and added six rebounds. Josh Cohen shot 5 of 8 from the field and 3 for 6 from the line to finish with 13 points, while adding six rebounds.
Jaden House led the Rams (11-13, 5-6) in scoring, finishing with 22 points. Luis Kortright added 15 points, four assists and two steals for Rhode Island. In addition, David Green had 11 points.
Jaylen Curry scored 10 points in the first half and UMass went into the break trailing 35-32. UMass used a 13-1 run in the second half to build a 14-point lead at 68-54 with 6:12 remaining. The Minutemen led 81-76 with 11 seconds remaining before a 3-pointer by Kortright. Jaylen Curry then missed two free throws for UMass but Kortright missed a 3 at the buzzer.
