Scovens' three free throws late and Army sinks Navy 69-67

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- — Josh Scovens scored 16 points and made three free throws with a little more than a second left and Army beat Navy 69-67 in overtime on Saturday.

Jaden Ellis came up with a steal for Army off the Navy inbounds to end it.

TJ Small fouled Scovens on his 3-point attempt with two seconds left. Navy took a 67-66 lead when Mac MacDonald made two free throws with two seconds left.

Mitch Fischer made two foul shots with four seconds left in regulation to bring Navy into a tie at 56. Army's Ryan Curry missed a 3 at the horn to force overtime.

Scovens added eight rebounds and three blocks for the Black Knights (8-17, 4-8 Patriot League). Abe Johnson added 14 points while shooting 7 of 12 from the field, and he also had 11 rebounds.

Austin Benigni led the way for the Midshipmen (8-15, 4-8) with 15 points and four assists. Austin Inge added 14 points and five assists for Navy. In addition, Mitch Fischer had 11 points. The loss is the sixth in a row for the Midshipmen.

Both teams next play Wednesday. Army hosts Boston University and Navy plays American at home.
