Willis scores 34 as Western Michigan takes down Ohio 82-73
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- — Chansey Willis Jr. scored 34 points to lead Western Michigan over Ohio 82-73 on Tuesday night.
Willis had eight assists for the Broncos (10-18, 7-8 Mid-American Conference). Javaughn Hannah scored 14 points while finishing 6 of 11 from the floor and added 10 rebounds. Donovan Williams went 3 of 7 from the field (2 for 4 from 3-point range) to finish with 10 points.
The Bobcats (15-13, 9-6) were led by Shereef Mitchell, who posted 21 points. AJ Brown added 15 points, six rebounds and three steals for Ohio. Jackson Paveletzke had 11 points, five assists and five steals.
Western Michigan took the lead for good with 9:32 left in the second half on a layup from Seryee Lewis to make it 63-61.
Both teams next play Saturday. Western Michigan visits Northern Illinois and Ohio squares off against Miami (Ohio) at home.
