Cunningham has 20 points as Dayton holds off Richmond 87-81

RICHMOND, Va. -- Josh Cunningham scored 20 points on an almost perfect night shooting as Dayton picked up its first road win of the season, knocking off Richmond 87-81 on Tuesday night.

Cunningham hit all eight field goal attempts and was 4 of 5 from the line. Trey Landers added 18 points with nine rebounds and Darrell Davis chipped in 17 points for Dayton (8-8, 2-2 Atlantic 10).

The Flyers had their highest point production of the year in the first half, taking a 47-35 advantage into the break. Richmond opened the second half on an 18-12 run to close to 59-55 with 12:54 left. Dayton pushed back to take a 76-67 lead with 4:18 remaining.

Richmond's Khwan Fore drilled a 3-pointer with 1:13 left to close to 80-77. The Flyers finished on a 7-4 run to seal the win.

Dayton shot 64 percent while limiting the Spiders to 25-of-61 shooting (41 percent).

Julius Johnson led Richmond (3-13, 1-3) with 17 points.
