Hernandez, Clark lead LIU Brooklyn past Binghamton 74-66

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Joel Hernandez scored 25 points and Raiquan Clark 23 and LIU Brooklyn defeated Binghamton 74-66 on Friday night.

Hernandez was 10 of 16 from the floor, leading LIU in scoring for the sixth straight game, and had eight rebounds and four assists. Clark made all six of his field-goal attempts and 11 of 15 free throws. The Blackbirds (5-8) shot 56.5 percent and won their first road game this season in six tries.

Dusun Perovic scored 13 points and Everson Davis 10 for the Bearcats. Binghamton (8-6) was without Thomas Bruce, the team's second-leading scorer, who was out with a foot injury.

LIU led 30-29 at halftime but Binghamton used a 5-2 spurt to take a brief lead early in the second half. The Blackbirds then went on a 21-9 run over the next 6:45 with nine points from Clark and six from Hernandez to lead 53-43. The Bearcats cut it to three with four minutes left. Neither team scored for the next 3 1/2 minutes with the Blackbirds making 8 of 10 free throws after that to seal the win.
