UCSB pounds Montana State 91-69 for seventh straight win

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Leland King II scored a season-high 25 points and snagged 10 rebounds and Gabe Vincent added 20 points, six assists and four rebounds as UC Santa Barbara rolled past Montana State 91-69 on Saturday to run its winning streak to seven.

Max Heidegger added 19 points and Jalen Canty scored 15 for the Gauchos (8-2), who are off to their best start since the 2007-08 season. Joe Pasternack is enjoying the best start by a first-year coach for UCSB.

Tyler Hall, the leading scorer for the Bobcats (6-5) who has been battling an ankle injury for nearly a month, had 19 points. Joe Mvuezolo Jr. and Harald Frey scored 12 and 10, respectively.

The Gauchos led by four points when King hit two 3-pointers and UCSB outscored the Bobcats 17-12 to close the half up 40-31.The Bobcats got no closer than five points after halftime.

UCSB shot 57 percent (37 of 65) from the floor and 50 percent (9 of 18) from beyond the 3-point arc. Montana State shot 43 percent (23 of 54) from the floor and made just 7 of 22 from long range.
