Former Oklahoma guard Otega Oweh announced his commitment to Kentucky on Saturday, giving Mark Pope and the Wildcats a transfer addition for the second straight day.
Oweh took a visit to Kentucky's campus this weekend, cementing his decision to pick the Wildcats.
An ESPN 100 prospect in the 2022 class, Oweh enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore for the Sooners. His scoring jumped from 4.8 points to 11.4 points and his 3-point shooting improved from 25.0% to 37.7% while starting 28 games for an Oklahoma team that won 20 games.
Oweh was at his best during the first half of the season, scoring in double figures in 17 of his first 20 games -- including 23 points in a loss to North Carolina and two more 20-point efforts in wins over Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Pope, who replaced John Calipari at Kentucky this month, now has five players on his 2024-25 roster. San Diego State transfer Lamont Butler committed to the Wildcats on Friday.
Butler was a two-time Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and is perhaps best known for hitting the game-winning shot at the buzzer against Florida Atlantic in the 2023 Final Four.
Oweh and Butler join top-100 freshman guards Travis Perry, who picked Kentucky under Calipari, and Collin Chandler, who had committed to BYU in the 2022 class before taking a two-year mission and then following Pope to Kentucky. Drexel transfer Amari Williams committed to the Wildcats last weekend.
Other Kentucky targets from the portal include Wake Forest transfer Andrew Carr and Saint Mary's transfer Aidan Mahaney, both of whom are on campus this weekend.
