Saint Joseph's rallies to beat UIC behind Kimble's 31 points

PHILADELPHIA -- Lamarr Kimble tied his career high with 31 points and Saint Joseph's rallied from 13 points down to beat Illinois-Chicago 89-75 on Wednesday night.

Charlie Brown Jr. scored 19 points and Jared Bynum had 10 for the Hawks (4-3), who were outshot 50 percent to 38 percent but made 36 of 41 free throws. Pierfrancesco Oliva grabbed 12 rebounds and Taylor Funk scored nine points with eight boards.

Trailing 55-45, Funk and Kimble hit consecutive 3s to spark a 12-0 run and the Hawks closed to 57-55 on Kimble's free throw with 12:03 to play. Kimble hit a go-ahead 3 and the lead traded hands until Brown's free throw put the Hawks up for good 66-65 with 7:10 left. Saint Joseph's made 15 free throws from there.

UIC led 40-32 at halftime behind Tarkus Ferguson's 13 points.

Ferguson scored 23 points with five 3-pointers and 10 rebounds, Marcus Ottey added 17 points and Jordan Blount had 11 for UIC (3-4), which shot 11 of 35 from distance.
