Hoehn scores 29; Sacred Heart holds off Mt. St. Mary's 87-79

EMMITSBURG, Md. -- Scott Hoehn pumped in 29 points and Sacred Heart pulled away late to beat Mt. St. Mary's, 87-79, snapping a two-game Northeast Conference losing streak Thursday night.

Vado Morse hit a 3-pointer with :06 left in the first half to pull The Mount even at intermission, 41-41 and took its biggest lead of the game, 50-45 with 16:31 left in the game. Sacred Heart responded with an 11-0 run that included three-straight 3-pointers by Kinnon LaRose, Aaron Clarke and Jare'l Spellman to take a 56-50 lead.

The Mountaineers pulled even again at 59-59 when Malik Jefferson scored at the basket, but they never regained the lead. The Pioneers led 83-76 with 1:21 left, but Morse hit a 3 to cut the deficit to four points, but Cameron Parker responded with two free throws and Hoehn hit two more for the final margin.

E.J. Anosike and Koreem Ozier each added 12 points and Spellman pulled down 12 rebounds for Sacred Heart (9-13, 5-4).

Jalen Gibbs finished with 20 points and Morse added another 19 for Mt. St. Mary's (5-17, 2-7).
