Gapare scores 13 as UMass takes down Hofstra 71-56

NEW YORK -- — Tafara Gapare led Massachusetts past Hofstra on Sunday night with 13 points off of the bench in a 71-56 victory.

Gapare shot 5 for 10, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc for the Minutemen (8-2). Dyondre Dominguez added 12 points while finishing 5 of 7 from the floor, and he also had nine rebounds. Matt Cross went 5 of 11 from the field to finish with 12 points.

Darlinstone Dubar led the Pride (6-5) in scoring, finishing with 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Warren Williams added 12 points for Hofstra. Griffin Barrouk also recorded 11 points.

UMass got a team-high nine points across the first half from T.J. Weeks, but it was only enough to head to the locker room with the score tied at the half 30-30. UMass outscored Hofstra in the second half by 15 points, with Cross scoring a team-high 10 points after halftime.
