Tremont Waters hit the shot of his life to send LSU to the Sweet 16, as the Tigers furiously held off Maryland and the Terrapins' comeback from a 15-point deficit in what amounted to the best, wildest game of the tournament so far. LSU players piled on each other on the court after clinching the win.

LSU opened up a double-digit lead thanks to is defense. The Tigers shut down Yale's best shooter in the first round, and so far has held Maryland's Anthony Cowan Jr. to three points. Maryland is just 5-of-23 to start the game.

The talk going into the Maryland-LSU game focused on the big men on both teams. So far, the Tigers have done a better job defending the paint and making the Terps rely on their outside shooting. Maryland has gotten good looks, but hasn't been able to knock down the shots.
