Pirates optimistic of securing long-term deal with Griffin
Pittsburgh is optimistic about reaching a long-term contract with rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin, 19, who was promoted last week in time for the home opener, but Pirates general manager Ben Cherington cautioned that they're not at the finish line yet.
