Bears kicker Elliott Fry misses wide left on a 47-yard field goal attempt after Eddy Pineiro nailed a 41-yard field goal earlier in the first half. Not a good-looking kick by Fry, who made a big 43-yarder in Chicago's first preseason game last week vs. Carolina.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace called the team's decision to keep right guard Kyle Long back in Chicago an "internal matter" during a pregame interview on the Bears television partner. Pace would not discuss the situation any further. Long did not make the trip to Met Life after being kicked out of Wednesday night's scrimmage for fighting.

Bears right guard Kyle Long did not travel with the team to New York, the club announced on Friday night. Long was kicked out of practice on Wednesday for ripping the helmet off a backup player and swinging it as a weapon. Bears coach Matt Nagy was understandably upset with Long's behavior and the left the former Pro Bowler behind as an apparent punishment. Long took a pay cut in the offseason and is under contract through 2020.

A scuffle broke out between WR Javon Wims and CB Prince Amukamara during Tuesday's practice. It got heated enough that Wims threw a couple of punches before the players were separated. Is it a good idea for players to throw punches at players wearing helmets? "What do you think," Bears coach Matt Nagy said sarcastically.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy said TE Trey Burton did more in practice on Tuesday. Not quite full go, but getting closer. WR Anthony Miller and OLB Aaron Lynch did not practice.

Bears kicker Eddy Pineiro on the ongoing kicker competition: "It does get a little exhausting. Every time you miss a kick, you're like ‘damn.'

Bears OLB Aaron Lynch sat out with a shoulder injury, per Matt Nagy.

Bears coach Matt Nagy believes wide receiver Anthony Miller will be ready for Week 1. Bears open the regular season on Thursday night, Sept. 5 versus Green Bay.
