Saquon Barkley told me he had a high ankle sprain before, his freshman year at Penn State. He missed two games with that injury.

There was a point in the second quarter Daniel Jones went into the huddle and said, "Let's fu***** score!" Guys were taken aback. Had never seen that side of him, seen him curse. Moments later he pulled a zone read and ran in a touchdown. Had the sideline buzzing.

QB Jones leads Giants' rally vs. Bucs in 1st start

Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones led the Giants back from an 18-point deficit at halftime and scored the go-ahead touchdown in Sunday's 32-31 win over the Buccaneers.

Giants owner Steve Tisch told me before the game it was the start of a "new chapter." He raved afterwards about the poise and composure of the 22-year-old quarterback. Chapter 1 an overwhelmingly optimistic story.

Janoris Jenkins' final numbers allowed when he was the nearest defender to the targeted receiver today: 8 completions on 13 targets for 191 yards and two touchdowns, per NFL Next Gen Stats. Most yards allowed as nearest defender in a game this year.

A magical first start for Daniel Jones, rallying the Giants from an 18-point halftime deficit to a 32-31 victory over the Bucs. Jones threw for over 300 yards but it was his legs that were the difference. Tampa coach Bruce Arians said during the week that the difference between Jones and Eli Manning was "mobility." Boy did that prove to be true. Jones' 7-yard was TD run with just over a minute to play on fourth down was the difference.

Saquon Barkley has an ankle sprain, per sources. Good news in that initial diagnosis is not a break. He's is in a boot and on crutches on the sideline. Expectation is that he will miss some time.

Sources: Giants RB Barkley has high ankle sprain

Giants star running back Saquon Barkley needed to be helped to the locker room late in the second quarter Sunday against the Buccaneers and later was ruled out for the game. Barkley has a high ankle sprain and will get an MRI on Monday, sources said.

Saquon Barkley is on the sideline with his right foot in a boot and on crutches. He's OUT of this game and have to think will miss more time.

Janoris Jenkins has only played a half, but so far in Week 3 no player has allowed more yards when the nearest defender to the targeted receiver than Jenkins with 129 (on 8 targets), per NFL Next Gen Stats.

The Bucs have 28 points at half. Should have 30 but 2 missed XPs. Janoris Jenkins can't cover Mike Evans, who has 7 catches on 11 targets for 146 yards and 3 TDs w/Jenkins following him. The Giants trail 28-10 even though there have been encouraging flashes from Daniel Jones.

First two Giants in the building: Saquon Barkley and Sterling Shepard. The Giants are going to rely heavily on these 2 w/Daniel Jones making his first career start, especially Saquon who they are intent on relying on to take the pressure off the rookie QB.

It's a big week for the Giants. Their future franchise quarterback is also the starter now. Asked Saquon Barkley if he had any advice for Daniel Jones and he said, "Be you!" WR Bennie Fowler was also telling me when Jones throws that first TD pass the sideline is going to be hype. There is a palpable energy around this team that has not been there for a while. Sort of like a fresh start.
