DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Carolina Hurricanes aim for their fourth
win in six games tonight when they continue a four-game road
trip against the Dallas Stars.
Defensemen Paul Coffey and Sean Hill had the other power-play goals for Carolina, which halted a five-game road winless streak. Ron Francis recorded two assists to extend his points streak to three games. Francis has a team-high 24 points and Sami Kapanen is tops with 12 goals for the Hurricanes, who trail Florida by one point for first place in the Southeast Division. Dallas had its four-game winning streak snapped Monday with a 3-2 loss against Phoenix to open a three-game homestand. Guy Carbonneau and Blake Sloan scored for the Stars, who have lost six of their last seven at home. Dallas is 5-7-1 at Reunion Arena, where it lost only eight times last season en route to winning the Stanley Cup. Mike Keane has a three-game points streak with one goal and two assists for the Stars, who are tied with Anaheim for fourth place in the Pacific Division. Irbe recorded his 21st career shutout and Paul Ranheim scored 8:39 into the second period for a 1-0 Carolina victory over Dallas on November 20. Dallas has won three straight meetings at home.
