NittanyNation will look at offensive NFC players this afternoon after glancing at offensive AFC players this morning:
Stephfon Green, RB, Detroit Lions
Height/weight/age: 5-10/193/23
Role: Battling for a roster spot as the No. 4 RB
PSU career: Green burst onto the scene as a redshirt freshman in 2008 -- but that turned out to be his best season. He had 578 rushing yards and found himself in Joe Paterno's doghouse by his senior season. He finished his career with 1,351 yards and 14 scores.
NFL career: Went undrafted. Green has six carries this preseason for 92 yards -- including a 76-yard scamper for a score against the Baltimore Ravens.
Michael Robinson, FB, Seattle Seahawks
Height/weight/age: 6-1/240/29
Role: Starter
PSU career: As quarterback, Robinson guided Penn State to a 2006 Orange Bowl and finished fifth in the Heisman voting. He's 11th in all-time passing yards with 3,531 at Penn State -- but he'll be best remembered for his intangibles and leadership.
NFL career: Drafted in the fourth round in 2006 and made the Pro Bowl in 2011. He’s primarily a blocking fullback and has 373 rushing yards and two touchdowns for his career.
Evan Royster, RB, Washington Redskins
Height/weight/age: 6-1/216/24
Role: Situational, but making his case to be a starter
PSU career: No. 1 on Penn State's all-time rushing list with 3,923 career yards. He had an impressive career, surpassing 1,000 yards in each of his last three seasons.
NFL career: Drafted in sixth round in 2011. He's battled his way to the depth chart after initially not making the the 53-man roster out of training camp. With injuries to Roy Helu and Tim Hightower, Royster's getting most of the time now in the preseason. He averaged 5.9 yards per carry last season on 56 carries.
Deon Butler, WR, Seattle Seahawks
Height/weight/age: 5-10/182/26
Role: Battling for a roster spot; some analysts have him pegged as a second-stringer
PSU career: He came in as a walk-on defensive back and left as a four-year starter who surpassed Bobby Engram as the career receptions leader with 179 catches.
NFL career: Drafted in third round in 2009. Played in 34 games so far and has 57 career catches. Started eight games in 2010 but broke his leg, returned and played in just five in 2011. Has four catches for 26 yards so far this preseason.
Derek Moye, WR, New Orleans Saints
Height/weight/age: 6-5/210/24
Role: Battling for a roster spot
PSU career: Moye didn't have a regular starting quarterback he could mesh with his last two seasons but still finished third in career receiving yardage with 2,395 yards -- 380 ahead of Jordan Norwood.
NFL career: Undrafted earlier this year. Signed a deal with the Dolphins, was waived and picked up by New Orleans in mid-June. No catches through three preseason games.
Brett Brackett, TE, Philadelphia Eagles
Height/weight/age: 6-5/246/24
Role: Third-string
PSU career: Quiet as a sophomore and junior but broke out his senior season by finishing second on the team in receptions (30) and yards (525) and touchdowns (five). Was a wide receiver.
NFL career: Undrafted in 2011. He was signed by the Dolphins and then picked up by Jacksonville before arriving in Philadelphia last November. He has zero career regular season catches but has two receptions for nine yards in the preseason.
Andrew Quarless, TE, Green Bay Packers
Height/weight/age: 6-4/252/23
Role: Injured, will likely be on PUP list
PSU career: Seemed as if he would be one of the best tight ends to ever matriculate through Happy Valley but couldn't immediately follow up his rookie season. Named to all-Big Ten freshman team with 21 catches and 288 yards but had to battle to get out of Joe Paterno's doghouse. Had a solid senior campaign with 41 catches and 536 yards
NFL career: Drafted in fifth round of 2010. Had nice rookie season with 21 catches for 238 yards but injury set him back last season. He’ll be out at least half the season after tearing two ligaments in December.
Andrew Sczcerba, TE, Dallas Cowboys
Height/weight/age: 6-6/256/24
Role: Battling for a roster spot; fourth-string
PSU career: Not the most productive player. He saw limited time on special teams as an underclassman, was injured as a junior and had 12 catches in his final season.
NFL career: Went undrafted earlier this year. Has two catches in the preseason for 33 yards.
Mickey Shuler, TE, Minnesota Vikings
Height/weight/age: 6-4/247/25
Role: Battling for a roster spot; fifth-string
PSU career: Mostly utilized as a blocker. Had a career-high 11 catches his senior season in the shadow of Quarless. Started nine games as a sophomore and junior.
NFL career: Drafted in seventh round in 2010. Went from the Vikings to the Dolphins and then back to Minnesota. Has two career receptions for 44 yards. He has one catch for 14 yards in the preseason.
Levi Brown, OT, Arizona Cardinals
Height/weight/age: 6-6/324/28
Role: Starter (injured)
PSU career: One of the best PSU linemen in the 2000s. Two-time all-Big Ten selection.
NFL career: Drafted in the first round of 2007. Started every game in each of the last four seasons and started 11 games in his rookie season. Tore a triceps muscle in the preseason and will be out at least three months and is possibly gone for the season.
Rich Ohrnberger, OG, Arizona Cardinals
Height/weight/age: 6-2/300/26
Role: Third-string left guard/center
PSU career: Second-team all-Big Ten in 2007 and first-team all-Big Ten in 2008.
NFL career: Drafted in fourth round of 2009. He went from the Patriots to the Cardinals. He has played in five regular-season games with zero starts and in two of three preseason games.
DeOn'tae Pannell, OG, New Orleans Saints
Height/weight/age: 6-5/323/22
Role: Backup or reserve guard
PSU career: Pannell was pulled at left guard in 2010 and started only two games, but he came on strong the next season and started every game as a senior.
NFL career: Went undrafted earlier this year. He was signed after a May tryout. Has played in all three preseason games.
Robbie Gould, K, Chicago Bears
Height/weight/age: 6-0/185/30
Role: Starter
PSU career: Erratic. His best season came as a sophomore when he missed three extra points but nailed 17 of 22 field goals. He barely made half his kicks as an upperclassman. He was 16-of-29 in his last two years. Career field goal percentage was 63.9 percent.
NFL career: Went undrafted in 2005. Gould is now the fifth-most accurate kicker in NFL history, making 85.8 percent of his career field goals (187-of-218). Hit a franchise-record 57-yard FG last December. Pro Bowl selection in 2006.
