Williams & Mary pulls away from Villanova, 24-17

PHILADELPHIA -- DeVonte Dedmon pulled in an 18-yard pass from Ted Hefter to cap a five-play, 71-yard drive to start the second half to spark William & Mary to a 24-17 Colonial Athletic Association win at Villanova in the Tribe's final road game of the season Saturday.

The score put William & Mary up, 21-7 and, after Kris Hooper kicked a 37-yard field goal to make it 24-7, the Tribe withstood a 10-point, fourth-quarter comeback attempt by Villanova to earn the victory.

William & Mary (4-5, 3-3) plays host to Richmond in the regular season finale Saturday. Villanova travels to Delaware.

Shon Mitchell found Tyler Klaus from 16-yard out early in the second quarter to put the Tribe up, 7-0, but Aaron Forbes answered for the Wildcats, scoring from a yard out to tie the game at 7-7.

Forbes pulled a 5-yard pass for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter and Drew Kresge added a late 19-yard field goal, but Villanova (4-6, 2-4) could get no closer.
