Drake moves to 7-0 in Pioneer League, beats Presbyterian 16-14 for chance at outright title
DES MOINES, Iowa -- — Dorian Boyland had a touchdown run, Shane Dunning kicked three field goals and Drake remained undefeated in the Pioneer League with a 16-14 victory over Presbyterian on Saturday.
Drake (7-3, 7-0) entered the game tied atop the league standings with Davidson, who lost to Morehead State on Saturday. The Bulldogs are 7-0 for the first time in regular-season league play which concludes at Butler next Saturday.
Presbyterian's Tyler Wesley tossed a 2-yard touchdown pass to Terik Mulder with 2:19 remaining before Drake ran out the clock. The other Blue Hose touchdown came on Ty Englehart's 75-yard run with 5:28 to play in the first quarter.
Boyland scored on a 3-yard run before Englehart's score. Dunning made a 34-yard field goal just before halftime and kicks from 29 and 48 yards in the third quarter.
Boyland and Christian Galvan combined for 123 yards rushing on 36 carries. Luke Bailey was 18-of-36 passing for 153 yards for Drake.
Wesley completed 6 of 17 passes and had 34 yards rushing for Presbyterian (3-7, 1-6). Englehart added 87 yards rushing on five carries.
